Google Maps aún no está lista. Google no la ha enviado aún.

Pues al parecer no habrá Google Maps para el iPhone 5 ni iOS 6 por el momento.

Contrario a la aplicación de Youtube que llegó solo unas semanas después de que en la beta 4 de iOS 6 se eliminara la aplicación original, Google aún no tiene lista su aplicación de Google Maps para el iPhone 5 ni iOS 6. Eric Schimidt, presidente ejecutivo de Google, ha desmentido via Reuters que la aplicación de Google Maps haya sido enviada a Apple para aprobación.

“Google Inc. no ha hecho ningún movimiento para traer Google Maps al iPhone 5 luego de que Apple Inc. abandonara la aplicación en favor de su propia pero controversial alternativa.”

El rumor de que Google había enviado la aplicación de Google Maps a Apple para aprobación surgió la semana pasada —algo que puse en duda desde el principio—, luego de que la prensa y los usuarios bombardearan a Apple por el desastre ocasionado por su nueva aplicación de Maps.

No Google Maps para iPhone 5 ni iOS 6 por ahora

Los nuevos Mapas de iOS 6 han empañado la salida del iPhone 5 ya que, en comparación con Google Maps (la cual lleva varios años en el mercado), está muy pobre en información de, por ejemplo, locales y hasta algunos usuarios reportan fallos en la localización.

De todos modos, ya Eric Schmidt lo dijo, no han hecho nada para volver a traer Google Maps a iOS 6 y el iPhone 5. Por ahora, tendremos que buscar alternativas.
