Luke Bracey será Johnny Utah en el remake de Point Break

Ya sabíamos que Gerald Butler estaba contratado para reinterpretar a “Bodhi” en el remake de Point Break (¡blasfemia!) ahora nos enteramos quien será el Johnny Utah; Luke Bracey.

La noticia llega por comunicado de prensa y confirma que Bracey (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) sera el nuevo agente del FBI que se infiltra en un grupo criminal dentro del mundo de los deportes extremos y se hace amigo de “Bodhi” un surfer que busca el nirvana a través de peligrosas acciones como surfear gigantescas olas. En la versión original del 1991, Keanu Reeves fue “Utah” y Patrick Swayze fue “Bodhi” así que esos zapatos están bien grandes.

LUKE BRACEY TO COSTAR WITH GERARD BUTLER IN ALCON ENTERTAINMENT’S REBOOT OF CLASSIC ACTION THRILLER ‘POINT BREAK’

LOS ANGELES, CA., FEBRUARY 24, 2014 — Luke Bracey will join Gerard Butler in Alcon Entertainment’s remake of the classic 1991 action-thriller POINT BREAK, it was announced by Alcon co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.

Bracey will play the role of Johnny Utah, a young FBI agent who goes undercover to infiltrate a criminal gang in the world of international extreme sports. Ericson Core (“Invincible”) is directing Kurt Wimmer’s (“Salt,” “Law Abiding Citizen,” “Total Recall”) screenplay.

Alcon’s Kosove and Johnson secured rights to the project from RGM Media, John McMurrick and Chris Taylor. Kosove and Johnson will produce along with John Baldecchi, Taylor and Kurt Wimmer. RGM Media principal Devesh Chetty and investor John McMurrick, Chairman of Marloss Entertainment, will serve as Executive Producers.

Bracey most recently co-starred in “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.” He will next be seen in the upcoming Nicholas Sparks adaptation “The Best of Me” starring Michelle Monaghan and James Marsden for Relativity.

At the most recent American Film Market, “Point Break” was an international success story, quickly selling out all rights worldwide, with many foreign distributors returning time and again with numerous counter bids. The film will be released domestically via Warner Bros through Alcon’s long-term distribution pact. Principal photography is set to begin early this summer.
